RC1 Coming soon

Hello,

just working on RC1, which means: No further features. I identified for the EISCP implementation, that some code changes would be helpfull, which took me a while to implement. So I am in a stable phase again and will do some further internal testing before I launch RC1.

Next Step: Home automation interface(s)

Hello,

I will invest some time to start developing interfaces for home automation. ORCA is not restrictced (by design) to control your home theater set, so I will start with fhem.

Fhem is a full featured sever appliance to control your environment incl. triggers and several hardware interfaces. Controlling fhem instead the native hardware controllers is an easy step into home automation. Fhem can be controlled by „telnet like“ commands and even, if I am not using it, it should be somehow easy to develop an interface. This will enable you to dim your lights when you start to play your movie with one click on your ORCA remote :-).

Ich freu mich.

XBMC definition now the default definition

Hello,

I deciced to create a pure XBMC defintion, which is now the default definition for new users. So XBMC users can use ORCA „out of the box“, they only need to adjust the host name of their XBMC device (and of cause need to allow remote control in their XBMC settings)

So Orca will be now delivered with three defintions:
* xbmc pure: Ready to use for XBMC users. One Control Screen which all main XBMC functions
* showcase: An overview to the most common screen widgets of ORCA
* thica: My personal setup, which shows a more complex definition using multiple interfaces and a lot of devices

You can now adjust the interface settings using the setup screen of ORCA Remote, so if you use the „xbmx pure“ defintion, no manual editing of any ini / xml files is required.

Have fun

Progress on Deployment

A brief update:

Installation package for Windows: Tested and working
Installation package for Android/APK: Tested and working
Installation package for Android/Kivy Launcher: Tested and working

I am still wondering, why the Android apk is working properly, as the installation results look different as designed, but… … it works :-), so I accept it. I wasted so much time to dig through this installation / packaging /signing mess, so I need to focus on getting the wiki finished.

Wiki spammed

Spammers found the wiki. So had had to disable user registration and article edit 🙁
